South Dakota – Online Course

In order to renew your license, the South Dakota Electrical Commission of Labor and Regulation requires that you complete 16 hours of continuing education every year. Of the 16 hours, 8 must be code related.)

NOTE: The remaining 8 hours must be completed in a live instruction format. At this time, AEI does not offer this live instruction in South Dakota.

How does this course work?
To complete our online courses, you just need to follow these simple steps:

1. Purchase the courses that you would like complete.
2. Use the course(s) registration link and code in your receipt or receipt that is emailed to you.
3. Log in to your online course portal, and complete your courses at your own pace. You may start and stop the courses as often as you’d like, and your progress will be saved.
4. Pass the final exam. Don’t worry- you can take the final exam as many times as needed.
5. Download your certificate of completion for your records, and we’ll see you next year!

Continuing Education Requirements:

To renew your license (every even year) you must have at least 16 hours of continuing education. Eight hours must be code-related. The remaining eight hours may be non-code.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide me with a certificate of completion when I complete the course?
Yes. Once you pass the continuing education course, you will be able to immediately print your certificate in the learning system.

Do you offer any live, in-person continuing education training in South Dakota?
We do not currently offer live training in this state. We find that most students prefer to complete their courses on their phone, tablet or computer.
