Continuing Professional Competency (CPC Requirements) in Alabama

Alabama professional engineers are required to earn 15 PDH each year to maintain licensure. The Board lists a number of different acceptable continuing education activities, including correspondence and online courses. While the Alabama board does not mandate or pre-approve specific courses or providers, they do require that the courses cover material that is technical, ethical or managerial in nature and that the activity pertains to the practice of engineering.

A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.

Online/Correspondence	There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through online or correspondence courses. However, the board does not encourage meeting PDH requirements through distance learning. To be accepted, the licensee must demonstrate high quality education from the course, if requested, and the course must require the participant to show evidence of achievement and completion and/or a final graded test.
