Professional Development Hour (PDH) Requirements

Arkansas Professional Engineers are required to earn 30 PDH biennially in courses that have a “clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s field of practice.”

The Arkansas Board does not approve continuing education providers. It is the responsibility of the engineer to complete courses by CE providers which meet the Board’s requirements.

A maximum of 30 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.

Dual License: Dual licensees are required to earn 40) PDH biennially, with at least 10 earned in each profession. The remaining 20 may be obtained in either
profession.

A maximum of 40 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period (no more than 30 in either profession).

Renewal Dates	December 31. Even-numbered licenses end with a 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 and renew in even-numbered years. Odd-numbered licenses end in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 and renew in odd-numbered years.
Course Approval	The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses.
Course Content	The course must have a “clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s field of practice”.
Online/Correspondence	There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through online or correspondence courses.
